Who we are
SkillScrum is a free footy tipping app for the NRL and AFL, operated by Bojan Milic, a sole trader based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia (ABN 16 725 626 819). In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" means SkillScrum.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The short version
We collect the minimum we need to run a tipping comp. We store it in Australia. We don't sell it, we don't rent it, and we never share it with bookmakers, betting companies or gambling operators. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist
- Your email address. That's it.
When you create an account
- Email address and password (passwords are hashed by Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your actual password)
- Username and display name
- The club you barrack for, if you choose one
When you use the app
- Your tips, scores, win rate and round history
- Which comps you're a member of, and comps you create
- Basic technical information — device type, operating system, app version, and crash reports
We don't collect your location, your contacts, your photos, or anything from other apps on your device.
Why we collect it
- To run your account — logging you in, keeping your tips, showing your ladder position
- To run comps — so the other members of your comp can see your username and results on the ladder
- To fix things — crash reports tell us what broke and where
- To let you know when it matters — round reminders and important account notices. You can turn notifications off
We don't use your information to build advertising profiles, and we don't run ads in the app.
What other people can see
Comps are social by design. Anyone in a comp with you can see your username, your win rate, your ladder position and your tips once games have locked. They cannot see your email address.
Pick a username you're comfortable with your mates, your workmates and your family seeing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run SkillScrum. They only get what they need to do their job:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, hosting and crash reporting. Our data is stored in Google's australia-southeast1 region, which is in Sydney.
- Formspree — receives waitlist email addresses submitted through our website.
- Apple and Google — app distribution and, if you notify us of a problem, crash diagnostics.
We will also disclose information if we're legally required to — for example, in response to a court order or a lawful request from a regulator.
We do not sell your personal information, and we have no commercial relationship with any wagering or gambling operator.
Where your information is stored
Your account and tipping data is stored in Australia (Sydney). Some of our providers, including Formspree, process data overseas. Where information is handled outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to make sure it's protected to a comparable standard.
Age requirement
SkillScrum is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
SkillScrum is free to play, involves no wagering and displays no betting odds, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to lose.
How long we keep it
- Account and tipping data — while your account is open, and for up to 30 days after you delete it
- Waitlist emails — until launch, or until you ask us to remove you
- Crash and diagnostic logs — up to 12 months
Anonymous, aggregated statistics that can't identify you may be kept longer.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can:
- Ask what we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and the personal information attached to it
- Opt out of notifications and emails

Security
Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to our database is controlled by security rules that stop one user reading another's private information. Passwords are hashed by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
No system is perfect. If a data breach ever occurs that's likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
Cookies
Our website uses no tracking cookies and no advertising pixels. The app doesn't use cookies at all.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when things change and revise the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
